Fast Lane
Fast Lane: Installation View at Wynick Tuck Gallery | 401 Richmond St. W, Toronto, 2002
While living in France or a period of four months, the organic circularity of Paris boulevards inspired painted webs of intertwined and luminous loops suspended in the pictorial space. Road diagrams of highways are re-arranged, crisscrossed and overlapped to create swirling painted abstract patterns suggestive of aerial views of some unknown site.
The composition is constructed of different perspectival views which weave through the application of multiple layers in subtle tones of saturated colours. Those amplify the spinning effect of speed and play with our perception of space.
