Midnight in Town | oil on panel | 38 x 48 cm | 1999
Small motorized vehicles painted in bright pinks and yellows stream in and out of dark, flat painted canvases alluding to the planned urban landscape. The surface echoes the flattening out of the land needed for building the road system. The paint handling renders the illusion of movement, pointing to our constant mobility and the fleeting nature of things. Pictorial and spatial arrangements of stamped repetitive silhouettes in the form of cars emphasize the absurdity of constantly coming and going elsewhere.
