Thinking of the North

In 2011 to gain proficiency in computer programming skills, I did a five weeks residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts to work with Ken Lozowsky, Banff’s Film and Media Department Programmer. I learned the coded needed to give form to my ideas and develop this series of digital prints Thinking of the North (2011-2015) and the animation Le Voyage (Time Spaces).
Banff striking landscape with its white summits, the atmospheric effects, the dramatic shadows, casted on the Rockies Mountains at sunset and the colour reflected on the powdered snow reminded me of the magnificent ice mountain drifting down the southwest coast of Greenland that I observed while on an Artic expedition to study the impact of climate changes (September 5th to September 19, 2008).
