From June 15 to July 2, 2007 I presented a series of wall paintings titled “Construction” in the context of a solo exhibition at the Galeria de Arte Universal in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba.

The sources for this work are cyberspace representations, incongruous mechanical devices, architectural spaces and mapping strategies as symbols of technology and progress. I harvested elements from them to create paintings that are fictitious topographies. Within these, multi-faceted panes and invented three-dimensional structures in chromatic greys and high key colours combine to defy engineering design rational.

For the exhibition “Construcciõn”, I presented the drawings that led to the two wall paintings. The title referred to the process of building, transforming and making improvements, a metaphor for political and social modifications.
